Love All The Way Fast

We invite you to join us for our 21 day fast to love all the way beginning Tuesday, September 5 and ending Monday, September 25.

Biblical references to the spiritual discipline of fasting describe a practice of abstaining from food for a specified period of time. Fasting is a time of bringing the body under the control of the Holy Spirit. Instead of receiving the physical gratification of food, we become very aware of the substance and power of the Holy Spirit. We are not striving to get God’s attention, to impress Him or persuade Him. Instead, our purpose is to focus our attention on Him as the only Source of our needs. There is no quicker way to expand spiritually than to fast physically.

To voluntarily abstain from eating and/or drinking for an extended period of time. Biblical fasting is a discipline of voluntarily denying one’s self of the basics of eating in order to be available for prayer and communion with the Lord.   

There are many reasons to fast. To fast Biblically proves to be a personal encounter with God. As you begin to consider reasons for your fast, you will come up with several, but there is one that should override all the other reasons: to have a powerful, life-changing encounter with the living God. Never confuse your fasting goals with the most foundational reason to fast — to meet with God. All other reasons could cause you to miss the biggest blessing of your fasting experience. 

Psalm 133:1-3 tells us that when we come together (corporately) in unity, there the Lord has commanded His blessing. If for health reasons you cannot follow the plan below, please fast something that works for you. For example, you might consider a juice fast, paleo, or giving up a certain item such as sugar or bread. If food is not an option, consider fasting social media or some other activity that is part of your normal routine. The important thing is that we fast together, even if what we fast differs.

Keep in mind that although fasting is primarily a spiritual discipline, it begins in your body and requires preparation. Physical preparation makes the change in your eating routine a little easier so you can turn your full attention to the Lord in prayer. Begin eating smaller meals several days before you begin. Consult your physician before fasting, particularly if you are taking medications or have a chronic ailment. Do not forget to take prescribed medications. Some people should not fast without professional supervision, such as: women who are pregnant or nursing; individuals who take insulin, or who suffer from any other blood sugar condition such as hypoglycemia; persons who have tumors, bleeding ulcers, cancer, blood diseases, heart disease, etc. Do not attempt to be a “super faster.” Our fasting does not impress God.

There are several types of fasting. The one you choose is between you and God. He will honor your best sacrifice.

Full Fast – Drink only liquids (you establish the number of days).

The Daniel Fast – Eat no meat, no sweets and no bread. Drink water and juice. Eat fruits and vegetables. 

3-Day Fast – This fast can be a Full Fast, Daniel Fast or give up at least one item of food.

Partial Fast – A partial fast is from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm or from sun up to sundown. You can select from three types of fasting —a Full Fast, Daniel Fast or give up at least one item of food.
