How to Run Your Race

Living with Identity, Purpose, and Bold Faith

Every person is running toward something—but not everyone is running the race God designed for them.

In his message “How to Run Your Race,” Pastor Jeremy Baker challenged us to stop running other people’s routes and start running our own race, anchored in identity, obedience, and faith. This message set the tone for 2026 as a year not to drift, hesitate, or play small—but to run after God like never before

At Elevate Life Church in Frisco, TX, this word landed powerfully as part of our 26th anniversary celebration and the launch of the Word of the Year: Run.

God Has a Race Just for You

Hebrews 12:1 says, “Let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” That means God’s race for you is intentional and specific. Pastor Jeremy reminded us that when we chase someone else’s life, we miss our own—and when we mute our calling, we delay our destiny.

Your purpose is connected to:

    • Community
    • Consistency
    • Being planted in God’s house

Run with the Right Order

One of the strongest themes in the message was order. Many people don’t struggle with faith—they struggle with priorities.

Jesus said in Matthew 6:33, “Seek first the Kingdom of God.” Pastor Jeremy explained that most people build their schedules first and then try to fit God in. But if God isn’t first, everything else eventually falls out of alignment

This year, running your race means:

    • Putting God first daily—not occasionally
    • Building your life around Him, not adding Him on later
    • Letting order determine outcome

  •

  •

Stop Letting the Enemy Talk

Using the story of David and Goliath, Pastor Jeremy showed how the enemy’s strategy is intimidation through constant noise. Goliath talked every day—and Israel listened.

Fear only works when there is agreement.

David didn’t study Goliath’s armor—he studied God’s promises. While the army focused on the giant’s size, David focused on the outcome. He knew who he was, and he knew who God was.

Run with Identity

If you’re going to run this year, you must run in identity.

The enemy never attacked David’s strength—he attacked identity. Pastor Jeremy reminded us that the devil did the same thing to Jesus: “If you are the Son of God…” Identity is always the target.

When you know who you are in Christ:

    • Fear loses its grip

    • Hesitation disappears

    • Courage rises

Run with Declaration, Action, and Expectation

Pastor Jeremy outlined four ways David ran his race:

    1. With Identity – knowing who he was
    2. With Declaration – speaking victory before the fight
    3. With Action – running toward the battle, not away
    4. With Expectation – already seeing the celebration

David didn’t wait until he felt ready—he ran. Hesitation gives the enemy ground, but action takes territory.

This Is Not the Year to Play Small

This message was a clear call:
2026 is not the year to play small.

God is looking for people who will:

    • Run after Him
    • Speak His Word boldly
    • Take ground instead of retreating
    • Build His Kingdom together

Final Encouragement

If you’re running this year, run with confidence.
Run with identity.
Run with faith.
Run with expectation.

God didn’t bring you this far to leave you—and He hasn’t called you to sit on the sidelines.
