What do you do when faith isn’t theoretical anymore?
What do you do when your prayers aren’t about promotion or provision—but survival?
In his deeply personal message “Run With Faith, Trey C. Peterson shared a story that moved the entire room at Elevate Life Church in Frisco, TX. It wasn’t just a teaching about faith. It was a testimony of walking through fear, uncertainty, and a medical crisis—while choosing to believe God anyway
And maybe that’s where you are right now.
Faith Is Not Just for Emergencies
Hebrews 11:1 tells us that faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. But too often, we treat faith like a fire extinguisher—only grabbing it when life is burning down.
Trey challenged us with a powerful question:
What are you using your faith for right now?
Faith isn’t just about surviving bad news. It’s about living with expectation. It’s about choosing belief before the crisis comes
When the Diagnosis Changes Everything
In August 2023, Trey and his wife Stephanie’s world changed. Their six-year-old son Cyrus experienced a grand mal seizure. What followed was a series of terrifying hospital visits, MRIs, and ultimately the discovery of a brain tumor on his brain stem
The doctors warned them:
- The surgery was high risk
- It could affect speech
- It could affect mobility
- It might be cancer
And even while standing in faith, they wrestled with fear.
If you’ve ever received devastating news—about your health, your marriage, your finances—you know that tension.
Faith does not mean you don’t feel fear.
Faith means fear does not get the final word.
Decide Before the Storm
One of the most powerful principles in this message was this:
If faith is not pre-decided, fear will decide for you.
Before surgery, Trey and Stephanie made a decision:
No matter what the report said, they would believe the report of the Lord.
They spoke faith out loud.
They declared healing.
They rejected thoughts of defeat.
Faith is voice-activated. What you consistently declare shapes what you consistently expect
The Battle of Words
Trey C. Peterson shared something eye-opening. When they told people their son had a brain tumor, many responded with sympathy that sounded like surrender.
But when he called Pastor Keith Craft, the response was different:
“We know the name of epilepsy. We know the name brain tumor. And we know how much bigger the name of Jesus is.”
Who you’re aligned with matters.
When life gets heavy, you need people who strengthen your faith—not magnify your fear.
Faith Walks Through the Process
Here’s the part that hits home:
Faith doesn’t eliminate the process.
Faith carries you through it.
The surgery lasted hours. Doctors expected to remove only part of the tumor. Instead:
- 90–95% of the tumor was removed
- It was benign
- Cyrus woke up with no permanent damage
What doctors warned might be cancer… wasn’t.
And when Cyrus had to relearn how to walk, he pushed through pain step by step—proving that faith isn’t passive.
Faith moves.
What This Means for You
You may not be facing brain surgery. But maybe you’re facing:
- A marriage that feels fragile
- A financial situation that feels overwhelming
- A diagnosis that feels heavy
- A job loss that feels unfair
Here’s what “Run With Faith” teaches us:
- Decide what you believe before pressure hits.
- Speak faith louder than fear.
- Align with people who strengthen belief.
- Walk through the process—even when it hurts.
Faith is not pretending pain doesn’t exist.
It’s deciding pain doesn’t win
