We all see problems.
We all feel frustration.
But what if your frustration isn’t random?
What if it’s revealing your purpose?
In his message “You Are the Good News,” Pastor Josh Craft challenges a deeply ingrained belief: that someone else is supposed to fix what’s broken.
Instead, he flips the script:
You are the Good News.
Why We’re Wired to See What’s Wrong
Let’s be honest—it’s easier to notice what’s broken than what’s working.
Psychologists say our brains are actually wired to focus on negative things. Historically, this helped humans survive—spotting danger meant staying alive.
But today?
It means we’re constantly aware of:
- Bad news headlines
- Cultural tension
- Personal frustrations
- Problems in relationships
And over time, that can feel overwhelming.
The Default Response: Disengage
When we see problems, most of us respond the same way:
We distance ourselves.
- “This job is toxic—I’ll leave.”
- “This relationship is hard—I’ll disconnect.”
- “The world is broken—I’ll avoid it.”
But here’s the problem with that approach:
Distance doesn’t fix anything.
Pastor Josh shared a personal story about being frustrated with a leader who lacked encouragement. His instinct? Leave the situation.
But Pastor Keith told him something that changed everything:
“The fact that you see the problem is proof you’re supposed to help fix it.”
Your Frustration Is Pointing to Your Calling
This is one of the most important ideas in the message:
Your greatest frustration may be the exact problem God created you to solve.
Think about it:
Why do certain things bother you more than others?
Why do some issues stir something deep inside you?
Because that’s where your calling lives.
You’re Not Meant to Escape the World
Many people believe the goal of faith is to avoid the world.
But Jesus said something different.
In John 17, He prayed:
“I’m not asking you to take them out of the world… but to send them into it.”
That means:
- You are in the world on purpose
- You are placed in your environment intentionally
- You are meant to influence, not withdraw
Faith isn’t about isolation.
It’s about engagement with purpose.
You Are the Salt and the Light
Jesus said:
- You are the salt of the earth
- You are the light of the world
Salt preserves, heals, and brings flavor.
Light pushes back darkness.
That’s not metaphorical fluff—that’s your assignment.
But Pastor Josh warns:
Salt loses its impact in two ways:
- Contamination → believing you’re too small
- Dilution → believing the problem is too big
Lie #1: “I’m Too Small”
This is one of the biggest mindset barriers:
“I’m just one person.”
“I don’t have influence.”
“I can’t make a difference.”
But here’s the truth:
Your existence is not random.
Statistically, the odds of you being alive are nearly impossible.
You are:
- One of one
- Unrepeatable
- Designed with intention
You don’t need to be famous to be impactful.
You just need to be faithful where you are.
Lie #2: “The Problem Is Too Big”
The second barrier is just as dangerous:
“The problem is too big—nothing will change.”
But history tells a different story.
Pastor Josh shared the story of a man in India who spent 22 years carving a road through a mountain after his wife died due to lack of access to medical care.
He didn’t fix the entire world.
He solved one problem.
And it changed countless lives.
You Are the Solution
Here’s the tension we all live in:
We want problems fixed…
But we don’t want to be the solution.
Pastor Josh says it clearly:
“You want it fixed. God says—you’re the fix.”
That applies to:
- Your marriage
- Your workplace
- Your family
- Your community
Your Life Has a Unique Assignment
You are not an accident.
You were:
- Born at a specific time
- Placed in a specific family
- Given specific gifts
- Wired with specific passions
Why?
Because there are problems only you are meant to address.
Your “divine fingerprint” is your unique way of reflecting God to the world.
Don’t Hide Your Light
Jesus said:
Don’t hide your light—let it shine.
This isn’t about:
- Being perfect
- Fixing everything
- Having all the answers
It’s about:
- Doing good
- Showing up
- Being faithful
Sometimes your role isn’t to solve everything.
It’s just to poke a hole in the darkness.
